Singing Up Stones consisted on projections onto the sails of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge pylons on Sydney Harbour as part os the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival. It was advertised as See Circular Quay overlaid with images and sound that expose stories of place and identity. Images were by Lisa Anderson and soundscape with Jon Drummond. The event was a Living City event funded by the City of Sydney as part of the Streets Alive program.
Singing Up Stones was the first time projections were permitted onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House.
Previously Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras had been denied permission to light up the sails of the Sydney Opera House in pink as part of the Mardi Gras Launch that year. For the the finale of the projection the sails were turned pink.
