norrie is a genderless person living in Sydney. Zie (neither he nor she) is a well known activist. Norrie uses the surname mAy-welby when required.

Norrie was born a man in Paisley, Scotland. Zie began hormone treatment at 23 and had surgery to become a woman at 28. Norrie later ceased taking hormones, preferring to live as neither male nor female.

Genderless

norrie officially bacame a genderless person on 25 February 2010. Zie (neither he nor she) became the first person in Australia and possibly the world to have an official document stating "Sex : Not Specified". [1] Since norrie was born in Scotland the document is a Recognised Details Certificate rather than a birth certificate.

The Recognised Details Certificate was cancelled on 16 March 2010 after legal advice that it was invalid. The legal advice provided to the registry said "the registrar may only issue a recognised detail certificate or a new birth certificate following a change of sex in either male or female gender". [2]
