It is frequently incorrectly referred to as JOY FM.
Controvesy
On 2 October 2011 The Sunday Age published an article[1] claiming that activists, "with gay and lesbian radio station Joy FM [sic]" were threatening beyondblue's funding by launching a campaign "Homovember" to compete with Movember. This claim was been refuted by David McCarthy, President of Joy 94.9[2]. He stated in a message to members and supported that "HOMOVEMBER was only a proposal at the very early stages" and that The Sunday Age had misquoted and misrepresented himself and Doug Pollard. Jeff Kennett has made homophobic comments while director of beyondblue.
