The 25th Sleaze Ball is called Ghetto Fabulous and it is on in a very few weeks. Saturday 30th September will see us popping round to the Horden, Dome and Forum (formerly Stage 11 and City Live) for another night of fun.
Sleaze Ball is the great dress-up night of the year, an opportunity to flex your creative muscles (and any other muscles you have at your disposal). There's room for everything from high camp to S&M. It's all about being hip and cool, yet shamelessly trashy. You can't look too glitzy. You can't look too filthy. It's Sleaze Ball after all.

I must confess I'm starting to get really excited about Sleaze. Wow, what a line up!!! All my fave Sydney DJ's are there -- Paul, Feisty, Mandy and Sveta. I can hear lotsa sexy, grinding tribal in there! I'm also really curious to hear Love Tatoo as well. Should be a fun, fun night!!!

I suppose its impossible they are playing in the
Hordern though ?
Last year when Hordern was mix of the Hordern and Dome
styles it was awesome...........hard hitting trance early in the night and the midway thru into tribal.
Was a great night.
Live it large in this fabulous gay ghetto venue! Packed with everything Ghetto and all things Fabulous!! As usual the Hordern will be pumping non-stop, featuring great Australian performers, and local and internationally acclaimed DJs.

This room will be filled with hidden treasures reminiscent of the fabulous lush, exclusive clubs often found somewhere off the main strip. It might be the ghetto to some but we invite you to call your home The Dome. Walk inside and you will feel the instant urge to dance, we promise! Apologies in advance to your feet . we guarantee you will be bumping and grinding not stop!

This venue has been a favourite amongst Mardi Gras partygoers for as long as we can remember. This is the rewards room as we treat all the oldies, newbies and in-betweens to some retro tracks. Walk in, step-up, step-back, sing out and dance back the memories, dance as you are, just dont stop!
The DJ Line up for City Live includes;
David Hiscock . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10pm 2am
Jake camp Kilby . . . . . . . . . . 2am 6am
Well, after a long wait (like at her Record signing), she came on, and goood and all. Why is this straight venue getting away with pretending to be supportive when they are directly competing against Sleaze.
Does anyone know if it would be allowed to wear rollerblades in the party? They would get you back and forth between the halls with minimal dancing time lost, and they are very ghetto!
I have a pair of "heelies" (they are shoes that have wheels in the heels) that I often wear to dance parties around sydney (even when I've been working!) No one has ever challanged me. And they are a hoot! Not sure how ghetto they are!
Aaaahhh I didn't think that Homesexual Extreme was on between 10pm and 8am on Saturday 30 September? Last time I checked, it started at 10am on Sunday 1 october.... I must be reading everything wrong. They're not competing with Sleaze, they're simply providing a recovery venue. Sleaze and Homesexual are completely different parties. There's no way people wouldn't want to go to Sleaze just because of Homesexual. I love that party but there's no way it could compete with Sleaze. In fact, I'd love to hear from anyone who would have gone to Sleaze if it wasn't for Homesexual being on the next day!
JGirl, you are right - no one is forcing anyone to go to both parties. The point I think a few here have been making (and hence my reason to comment now) is that some will decide between the two and the loss of income ($100/Ticket) to fund the Parade and Festival should be enough incentive for there to be no competition. Given the strength of concept with this year's Sleaze, one expects that the opposite will happen with Sleaze selling out, showing that we all truly support the efforts of the Producers and Working Group, let alone realising the financial importance to our Sydney gay Parade - so important keeping our issues on the public agenda.
I must agree, we went and saw it over a week ago at the preview and it was superb. I haven't had the cd out of the car stereo since. Iota is truly amazing too! The whole thing was awesome. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, then it's well worth your while trying to get out there to see something a bit different. You won't be disappointed!
PS Added bonus for me - Natalie Bassingthwaite was at the preview we went to! Woohoo! YUMMO! :P
I'm suprised to see that I'm the first person to write that I think the theme for the party is hideous. "ghetto fabulous" ? it sounds like a Telstra christmas party theme from the mid 90's. Ick !
I really miss it too, I can remember back to the mid and late 80's early 90's, it was wall to wall "Adults", as John H used to promote it to the general public. Just like Sleazzzze Ball will be, can't wait, wish it was on this weekend, can't wait.
Anyone know anything about my member privileges (ha) for this Fab Sleaze?
Regards
Midtech

I'm glad Sleaze Ball is not on this weekend. I have the sniffles But I am going into training to prepare for the rigours of Sleaze, so I can be there at the end surrounded by happy campers, and still make the walk home ok. So a bit of stair work to handle the bleachers and laps, practice keeping my fluids up to cope with sweaty Dome dancing, having a cleansing ale at 5.30am (set the clock!), and sourcing the last few orange and lemon flavoured chuppa chups in Sydney for my pockets.
The week before Sleaze, as the anticipation builds, is such a lovely feeling.
Currently listening to: Hacking cough - Sicky and the Kleenex
Yeah, I like the theme. It's not a new concept, but it's got lots of potential for dressing up. I really like their artwork. I don't think they're going just for obvious bling-bling. It's a gay take on the ghetto.
One would think that if its on the NMG site, the ticketek site and on our tickets then it must be true. I have never used one in all my years of partying. No big deal, always go to the parties "prepared"
Evil Twin, I can hardly manage to walk to the taxi rank let alone all the way home. How do you do it (assuming you're not resident wicket keeper in the SCG)? Is it the iron in the cleansing ale? Perhaps I should change substances. But then dancing wouldn't be quite as much fun!
As one looks forward to Sleaze Ball and one contemplates what one will be wearing, what one will be taking, etc... I find myself needing to ask.... How the F do you keep going and going all night long if your tolerance to (insert whatever here) is sky-high? Can anyone answer that for me please? Any helpful hints will be greatly appreciated. I far too often find myself having had far too many (insert whatever here) because I just don't feel much these days and end up getting a hideous headache and going home at around 5am. Someone please help! I'd really love to go till the end of Sleaze and maybe even get to a recovery this time around!
Hate to say it, JGirl, but maybe the time has come for you to take a break from partying or to go sober and see what happens. It sounds like you're not enjoying parties anymore. Perhaps you keep on going to keep friends happy, maintain the "tradition" or in hope or re-creating those early blissful experiences. Another option is to recognise your own rhythm and to go home at 4am. Why not? There's no rule that says you have to stay to the end.
But................. if you have to go and understand cant miss Sleaze. Avoid going out on weekends and
"indulging".
When it comes to Sleaze do as I do ie I take only a set
amount of things and I time myself and dont budge from
it ie dabble before going to party, maybe a dabble on arrival. Nothing more till around 12:30am then nothing again till around 3am even if it means sitting in the bleachers for awhile and then nothing more no matter if
its 5am or 7am when I "tire out".
That way I do not over indulge anymore. I still have a good time without being on tippy toes all night.
Tried formula that has worked for years for me and no hideous come downs days later. Oh and I stopped e's ages ago.
As much as I would like the perks of living at the SCG (free cricket, Swans games, dressing rooms etc), that's not my luck. But once we get into a walking rhythm, and if its a nice sunny morning, walking through the park and down the backstreets in the early am is really nice. Quiet, fresh air, and chatting about the party is a nice way to wind down. And strangely enough, a large latte makes me sleep better.
As for lasting the distance, nanna naps the day before do wonders. And a big plate of pasta before getting ready. Carbo loading FTW! Because sometimes "food" is a hard concept the next day. Unless you can put it in the blender and sip it through a straw.
There's nothing wrong with going home at 5am from a big dance party - in fact some of the best times I have ever had have started at 5.30 , 6 , 6.30am back at my home on the morning AFTER the party
I now pre-plan my "morning after" entertainment and it sometimes has me thinking about leaving the party a bit earlier than normal
I wont be surprised in the slightest if I leave Sleaze this year at about 6am. I know I'll have a hellova time at the party and then I know i'll also be having just as much fun at home the next morning - I cant wait !
Yeah the e part is the best advice, i too stopped them and have found the come downs much more pleasant, and with what i choose to have during the night i still have an awesome time, go home for a shower, a lie die, some loving with the partner and then a fresh set of clothes before heading out for some afternoon beers with friends to end the weekend off.
Yes I do believe I probably need a break - going out on average about every 3 weeks, but although I only go out for a few hours, I really do over indulge, mainly because I just have to to feel anything unfortunately. Thanks to everyone who's replied to me! I will take it all on board - have a bit of a break (even though I don't think 6 weeks is enough of a break - I went to Homesexual's 1st Bday), try to get fit and healthy from now and make sure I have a good sleep on the day of the party! I might even try pacing myself a little bit for the party itself! Thanks again y'all! :D

Yep started on e then went to s only then back to e for quite a few years but got sick ( now know it was not e but a
nasal infection ) but went back to s due to e being so
crap compared to 15-20 years ago and the come down is so
much better. Actually no real come down just tiredness.
And time/pace myself as previously posted.
Miss the initial hit but dont miss the comedown.
i agree, sleaze used to be sleazy, not fluffy-summery-sporty-streetwear. maybe better suited for mardi gras? there's nothing wrong with the theme itself, just not suited to SLEAZE. how about something edgy-dirty-sexy-filthy?
dont call it a sleaze ball if its actually become something else- it tarnishes the past efforts of those who made it what it was.
Maybe I gotta start looking at herbal alternatives or something. I usually don't have too bad a come down from E, if I just have 1 or 2 and nothing else, then I don't suffer from one at all actually... not even the next day. But I need a lot more than just 1 or 2 and I really do like the feeling (when they're good) so probably won't stop them in a hurry I reckon. Anyhoo, that's not my issue really... it's just making the night last without getting adament within about 5 hours that I MUST GO HOME AND SLEEP!!
If you don't think the name Sleaze Ball fits then how about suggesting something else. I can't think of anything better to call it. In fact I think changing the name would tarnish the memory more than anything else.

Obviously Ruby & ARQ have listened to the complaints about Homesexual so they are donating 20% of door takings ($5 per ticket) from Unity to MG. Very smart marketing on thier part.
Since uplifting trance isn't on the Sleaze menu I don't think it will have much impact as most of these people say they would rather stay home.
I'm a trance fan but will be with my mates at Sleaze...
Can hit Oxford St and hear trance every weekend but for us we only get 3 or 4 parties in a different venue ie
Fox and as a Hordern devotee..............
I'm definitely going to Sleaze. I got my tix about a week ago. I can't miss out on a big Mardi Gras run party, I do love them generally... I would feel like I was missing out BIG time if I didn't go and chose something else instead. I haven't even been to a Toy Box/Luminere recovery yet and TB is my favourite party of all. Hhhmmm I'm very excited about Sleaze. Really can't wait. Got my leave sorted for a few days after it, just still trying to figure out how I'll make it past 6am on the Sunday... I hope I do! :D
Countdownboy, you present us with ever more visual delights to lift our spirits as we move towards another Sleaze Ball. Why wouldn't we want to know more about you? I do apologise for making up that you're 32 and live in Enmore. But I got one out of three things right!
From SSO: A second release of more expensive tickets would become available towards the end of the on-sale period, but Bourget would not reveal how much they would cost.
From Ticketek: MY TICKETEK SPECIAL OFFER
My Ticketek members who take advantage of the Sleaze ball $99* first release ticket before 10 September 2006 will automatically be entered into the draw to win a 30GB colour screen video iPod and a signed, high-quality print of our super-sexy Sleaze Ball poster or one of four runner-up prizes of a signed print of the Sleaze Ball poster
My bet is that the $99 tix are only for a couple of more weeks.
well maybe your version of trance is different to mine ?
There are many versions.
And yes if you look, you will find it played or do you only want it played in your favourite venue ?
There is a big world out there and you'd be surprised what you can find if you look.
Why is it that with 3 floors operating there is to be no Trance music. I hate house....you cant dance to it.
After the lack of trance at this years MG,I decided to give it a miss next year and go to Toybox instead.
This is my first Sleaze Ball and if the music is the same as at MG, it will also be my last. Come on organisers get some great trance DJ's in the lineup!
"Come on organisers get some great trance DJ's in the lineup!"
Get OVER IT. The DJ's have already been chosen and announced. What makes you think for one second that NMG are going to cancel on one of the already selected DJ's and replace them with a trance DJ. Three words for ya.....
NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

maybe your interpretation of Trance is different to others cause it was there. Maybe not all night but it was there ?
And as another poster has commented -
The Dj's , the style has been chosen if you dont like it dont go . No amount of moaning will change that now.
Sleaze will sink or swim with what they have decided to go with.
Oh and by the way I would much rather dance to trance than house but I'll be very happy with Dome.
I'am also a very big fan of trance but i think your able to dance to any music at these big parties. The atmosphere, production, shows and the people make up this party. My most fondest memories of last years sleaze was dancing to "I just want to dance" and at the very very end when they played "I want the man"...... If only my mother could of seen me! I still get goosebumps listening to those songs as those moments were amazing!!
Just go and dance your heart out no matter what music is played!

A friend and I were discussing this not so long ago and we both love trance. We attend Ruby parties and the occasional Toybox, even though its cheesy trance. If there was a great amount of NEW trance coming out then we recon that trance would feature in the parties or for that matter weekly in the clubs - which it doesn't at the moment. The latest trance CD I brought was the new Tiesto cd, and guess what, it starts with house. Now if one of the biggest trance DJ's in the world is playing house what does that have to tell you about the state of trance. Hate to say it but is not as good as it used to be and its time to move forward.
We will be at the party and no doubt we will find some great house and tribal to dance to, then there is always retro?
While I would love to hear my favourite genre being played, I respect NMG's decision not to include a trance room (or DJ for that matter) at Sleaze. They are trying to create a different vibe with this party and I hope for them that tickets sell well. My own attitude is that if a particular party doesn't appeal to me, then I simply don't go - those of you who aren't happy with the dj line-up or the style to be played in the different halls should just move on, since it's not going to be changed now.
On another note, not sure where the comment about MG party not having trance came from. Trance (mainly in it's vocal/commercial form) was being played for pretty much the entire night in the Horden....
I prefer trance over house any day so I wont be in the Hordern but some of that tribal blurs the line with hard trance I think so Dome will be my home for the night.
You dont get lighting/production like these parties on Oxford St and I get goosebumps just walking into the Hordern
even after 20 years.
I only said sink or swim as a phrase. I think Sleaze will swim that night as well.
I love them both personally and if we could get a mix of both trance and house, I'd pretty much be in heaven. There are some djs out there who play over a few genres of dance music (I know Luke Leal and Neal Crawford both do) so it is possible.
I'll be at Sleaze no matter what! I love the big parties! Bring on Sleaze I say!!!
"The latest trance CD I brought was the new Tiesto cd, and guess what, it starts with house. Now if one of the biggest trance DJ's in the world is playing house what does that have to tell you about the state of trance. Hate to say it but is not as good as it used to be and its time to move forward."
I think trance has evolved quite a bit from the cheesy anthem-based style that was popular around 2000 - the difference between house, progressive, and trance is certainly much less distinct these days, but it's not all bad. Maybe you should have a listen to an episode of Armin van Buuren's weekly radio show (called "a state of trance"), which you can easily download from the internet at no cost (http://www.trancefix.nl/), before you write off the genre completely. Episodes 250 and 257 will give you a pretty good idea about what's hot in trance at the moment....
I was just wondering if you had any saucy, scary, silly or sensational stories for Sleaze of the past.
Can I ask that you take a couple of minutes to think and write them out. If they are sensational and not too saucy they might even find their way onto the pages of SSO.
Please put your first name so that you can be credited
Loving myself sick with "Who's Watching"... Found it listed as number 10 on homesexual's webpage's top 10.

so looking forward to loosing myself in the horden (think i'll stay there most the night - always enjoy the lighting in there and the massive sea of hands in the air)... gwad.... so excited!!!

Im looking forward to sleaze but i am dissappointed that it is a girly theme, bring back the sleaze. Or remame the party little mardi gras.
I will be staying in the dome wearing my usual clothing that has nothing to do with the getto.
Yay for shows! Now to be actually in the right venue and the right time to see them :-P
After a minor fashion crisis this week, (finding out that a mate has got her hands on some seriously groovy threads, and making me feeling like a Nancy NoTry), I sucked it up and will still be going with the original plan.
I'm hoping to hear a preview of what Mandy and Feisty will get up to for Sleaze, at Tribe this weekend. I think they should try some stuff out on us. Happy to be a lab rat for some serious sounds.
A theme is what you make of it. There are so many angles to ghetto fabulous, you just have to use your imagination. What about the ghetto back room feel of an 80's San Fran sauna, or back alleyways filled with Tom-of-Finland/Colt-ish style men cruising one another? Or a dingy ghetto leather bar in NY?
I think the whole idea is that they've given you two words to play with that can either be combined to create an original look, or you can go with one or the other. You don't have to incorporate fabulous into your outfit so what's so girly about ghetto?
First day of spring, it was a beautiful day and it seems that sydney is VERY excited about Sleaze Ball. Glad to see that the "ball" is back and we are getting dressed up again
What about the ghetto back room feel of an 80's San Fran sauna, or back alleyways filled with Tom-of-Finland/Colt-ish style men cruising one another? Or a dingy ghetto leather bar in NY?
What about a 357 theme? Just a pair of thongs and a white towel?
I wonder how many interstaters will be there???
Who cares really.
None of my friends are coming up this year, so Ill just have to fondle someone all by maself. Im going to makeup for last years personal ballsup.
Thongs are way too dangerous - unfortunately, there are too many pushy, barging people who don't watch where they're treading. But white towels are an excellent idea! Except that white towels and shoes will look a bit odd won't they?

Although last night I dreamed the whole of Sleaze and woke up tired just like after a big party. If the real party is half as good as that dream, then I should have a BLAST!
Oh Evil Twin , I am soooooo also thinking like you.
only a few nights ago was dreaming i was at Sleaze. It was the perfect night. Great Drugs , Excellent music and then capped it off with hot anonymous sex with a heap of guys down in the old Hordern toilets.........
And then I woke up to reality. Oh dear Fox Studios. What HAVE you done to my old Hordern Pavilion ? Butchers all of them !
Hey ET, guess what? I don't have a gig after Sleaze (that special one is postponed to a bigger venue on NYD) so maybe we can actually catch up and have a dance and drink and recall all the madness we have been involved in over the years? Geminis will rock Sleaze.... he he
PS Love to Mandy who celebrates her 10th year DJing tonight at the Flinders.
NG was about to ask ET how tribe was as well? G and I were meant to go but ended up staying in bed in preparation for multi family fathers day BBQ. Keen to know how the tribal @ tribe was? I can only imagine.
he he Brad. I don't have that annual commercialised burden - it was painting, gardening, getting the pool ready for summer etc this weekend before off to Brisbane next weekend and Auckland (thank you Ruby) the following one.
ROFL. Well, mine would consist of the following (let's look at Sleaze for 1 shall we...) -
Ticket - $90
Mummy's Little Helpers - $450 (yes, I know it's excessive but it's true!)
Water for the night - $25
Taxi's - $40
Misc chewy & Chuppa Chups - $5
TOTAL - $610! (Oh my GOD, that's SO SCARY)!!!!
JGirl, no wonder you feel rotten after parties. $450 for helpers (presumably just for you) is hideously, horribly excessive! That level of abuse must be terribly bad for your brain in the long run. I suggest you cut back NOW!
Ummmmmmmmm Jgirl how many parties do you get for the
$450 in helpers ?
If its 1 then I suggest you check into a rehab or drug counselling.
Even if 2 still check into rehab or drug counselling.
I know you know that you're OK cause you know how to handle it.
Well listen up girlf............ many posters here have had friends in the past who always knew exactly what they were doing with the little helpers and a lot of us had had to nurse/visit our friends while they recover.
It builds up over time and you will so crash and burn hard you wont know what hit you.
I have never had a friend who used to excess not have this bad experience. All of them crashed and burned.
If you cant cut back that excessive amount then dont go out.
i might be a bit slow, but with so many DJs and only one major dancehall, does that mean that each dj will have a very short stint at the turntable (or whatever is the technological equivalent nowadays) ?
Still havent got your ticket for this Springs hottest party ticket? Well better get in soon, as first release tickets are coming to an end. Second release tickets will go on sale on Monday, 11th September priced at $115. Member and concession priced tickets remain unchanged. Weve got 3 pumpin dance spaces, 13 thumpin DJs and so much bling youll be wearing your shades when you arrive - not leave - the party! Weve also got a production design thats going to blow you away so theres really no where else to be this October long weekend. Tickets are selling fast, so with the smaller footprint were working with, the 25th Sleaze Ball is on course to sell out. So tell your friends and get your tickets now and spend the next few weeks working on your costume Ghetto Fabulous Its gonna be a big one!
I appreciate your concern and to answer your question, where one type of "helper" is concerned, I'd probably get about 2 parties out of it, where the other helpers are concerned, I'd probably get about 3 parties out of it. I do admit, I should probably cut back.
Maybe after Sleaze?? I dunno....

I am getting sooooo excited .... I am a Sydney virgin and what a way to have my cherry popped than to cum to a Sydney Sleaze Ball!! YAY Can't wait and I'm sure Sydney won't be gentle with me .... BRING IT ON!!!!!

first of all - getting away with it is a beautiful song. he may be out of tune but i am sure they let him to sing it for a reason.
its not worst than britney spears, jessica simpson or any of australian idols. electronic made it much further than all the AU idols together. (especially the obese one)
Getting Away With It .....out of tune?....are you mad? As previously stated, this is a PSB collaboration. Since when have PSB been out of tune? Furthermore, this is one of the most beautiful arrangement of strings on a modern/pop song ever.

Recovery generally for me is a nice walk back to the hotel in the morning sunshine where I shower up, feet up load up and way I go. Usually to either Arq or Homesexual then on to the Shift. Theres always Stonewall or the Columbian if you want the pub scene. Just google it to get more info.
I was wanting to know if you could enlighten me on the hours currently slated for the Retro Space in City Live. Currently its listed as a 6am finish. Given the success of the Retro space at Mardi Gras (which was packed right thru till closing) I firmly believe that 6am is too early to close off the Retro space. I appreciate that its in the parties best interests to close off the smaller spaces in the daylight hours to make sure everyone congregates in the main hall for the closing of the party - however , I really do think that 6am is too early and would think that 7am would be far more appropriate.
To be honest , once the retro space closes that will for me (and many others I know) be our calling to go home. Sorry but not interested in the halls playing "current" music. A 6am finish is slightly too early for me , dont you agree ?
I therefore want to ask that you give consideration to extending the Retro space to a 7am close - I'm sure that wont be too big an ask , would it ?

Thanks for the replies. Do I need to worry about getting tickets to recovery parties in advance, or will it be okay to buy them on the day and night? Do they usually sell out?
Sometimes Ive bought tiks in advance only to leave them on the coffee table becoz I was too stuffed to go out again, other times I have waited until its too late.
You should be ok if you get to the clubs / pubs early.
Heres a link for one of the recoveries (theres no official recovery that I know of anyway) http://www.homesexual.com.au/
according to people at mardi gras they are shutting the retro space early as there is another event on the same day and they have to clear out earlier than usual, have heard rumours from some djs re an offical recovery to be announced this week
will sleazeball tickets sell out? as my friends wont know for sure if they can go until like a week before hand!! i know its keeping it late but they cant change anything due to work ... but they will know soon and they're pestering their boss with all their worth!!
Well Im off to Home for recovery to see Tony Moran, 12 hours of mayhem (again). Personally I prefer the indoor outdoor mix of spaces, dj's and roaming trade.
yes, of course! since the retro space could not extend its hours all the djs playing in the horden/dome were told not to play anything that was made after 1992.
hope this will keep all the retro fans happy.
official recovery on at DCM with all local DJ's. Dan Murphy, Greg Boladian, Shigeki, Luke Leal, Renae Stanton, GI Jode and Beatrix. Looks ok to me, was fun at DCM after Diva.
"yes, of course! since the retro space could not extend its hours all the djs playing in the horden/dome were told not to play anything that was made after 1992.
hope this will keep all the retro fans"
How dissapointing the official (whatever thats suppossed to mean) recovery at DCM, its not much of a club.
Too bad they dont have it Home or at least Arq.
I think we the gay community left DCM's when ARQ and other competition become available.... After that profits were not there and it had to be re designed.. Hence the straight crowd take over.
Saturday nights are great there, even though mostly straight it rocks and beats the DCM's of yester years...
Patches became DCM but like the whinges re Arq on Sat night it just became a straight club. Makes me laugh when people whinge about a place and dont support it ( and yes that is your choice ) then it goes straight and they whinge more...............
where do you get your figures for for that ticket sale??? i personally think they have advertised the party in all the wrong places - but really, i think from word about town, they would have sold alot more than that!
Does anyone know the performance times for the party??? I like many others hate paying the cost for tickets and missing the shows - i dont need to know who is when... jsut when, so we can make the most of our night!
i bought my tickets when they first went on sale, but still have not collected them - i should do it to get the number Once i do, i will let you know, as they would give me tickets as per ticket count now right???
I do know that sometimes for events, Ticketek do non sequential <?> numbers.. as in not in order, to disguise the actual number sold to the public???
i just hope people get off their asses and buy tix closer to the date, so we can all have a fun night!
It's pretty obvious it's going to sell out. I think that's the point of going for the Hordern, Dome and City Live/Forum/whatever and no RHI. The numbers are seriously limited. It makes sense. They want a sell-out. It's great PR.
I've got two spare tickets right now and it's going to be pretty easy for me to sell those on. I know tons of people who're 'going' but haven't bought yet. I bet they don't all get the ticket they are after.
Sleaze is definitely the smart ticket. What a turnaround from last year.
Most people in Sydney seem to leave their buying to the last minute. From talking to friends many of them have not yet decided. (I would not miss it!) Expect lots of sales in the next 2 weeks.
I suspect it 'may' be more than last year. For these reasons. No toybox, cheaper tickets, more intense advertising?, reduction of spaces, giving it a packed feel?. Im clasping at straws.
Anyway we're the ones that are gonna have fun!!!!!!!!!!
Who cares about those that dont go.
if they could get 6000 or so last year a toybox then i should think perhaps 8000 with out one and with great advertising and DJ's idare say they would already be around 5,000
I was told that they are about 20% up on this time last year - which would mean a sell-out. And remember this time last year they had a lot of negative publicity whereas this year it's all good.
"since the retro space could not extend its hours all the djs playing in the horden/dome were told not to play anything that was made after 1992.
hope this will keep all the retro fans happy."
Ugh! Really? That sux I reckon.... I would't mind if they mixed it up a bit and played a bit of both current and retro stuff but all retro stuff after 6am is not going to keep me at the party till close. Poo!
Oh and just with regards to the recovery at Arq - what is the deal with them only having Vortex open? If they want to get anyone there, I would suggest they'd need to open Arena. There's no way I'd want to continue partying in the Vortex. Anyone agree/disagree?
Sleaze Ball is proud to announce that not one, but two of Australias hottest dance acts will be performing at this years party.
First up is the beautiful and talented Katie Underwood who is burning up the dance charts right now with Mr Timothy - also known as T-Funk and one of our Sleaze Ball DJs - with her hit Be Together. And with their hit Never Say Never, electro pop hotties Vandalism, are ready to rock the party.
Katie Underwood shot to fame in 1999 as part of the hugely successful girl band Bardot in the reality TV series Popstars. Three Aria nominations later the band went their separate ways in 2001 and Katie went on to launch her solo career. She is best known for her work with Disco Montego and their 2002 Top 10 single Beautiful. Now Be Together, her Number 1 Aria Club Chart single, is being blasted from car stereos all over town.
With their cover of the 80s post-punk underground track Never say never, Cassie, Andy Van and Kam Danny, otherwise known as Vandalism cant wait to get your hands up in the air and make you hot and sweaty to this summers most in your face pick up line I might like you better if we slept together.
Find out more and download tracks from our Ghetto Fabulous entertainment at their sites below:
IF YOU AINT GOT THAT BLING, YOU AINT GOT THAT SWING
With Sleaze Ball just three weeks away now is the time to start thinking about how youre gonna dress up. There is no excuse not to roll with your homies and get down ghetto style. Take hints from your fave superstars and remember, more is more!!!
As every girl knows it is all in the accessories. The best place weve discovered is a website called icedoutgear.com. They have LED belt buckles and dog tags and a range of iced accessories including Grillz for your teeth. They take PayPal as payment method and ship internationally using UPS taking the usual timeframe to ship from America to Australia. Dont leave it too late!
eBay.com.au is a great place to hunt down accessories for a fraction of the price you would pay at a traditional store or full priced online websites. Most sellers will be located within Australia, making for faster shipment, and take payment methods such as BPAY and PayPal for those without a credit card.
The following are useful links to some of the better websites and eBay searches. Remember when purchasing online to check international shipping timeframes and postage and handling costs.
We also suggest The Pop Shop at 153 Oxford Street Darlinghurst for your bling accessories. The boys tell us they have been stocking up on all things bling!
Your personal Mardi Gras stylist is off now to find some Ghetto Fabulous accessories with inspiration from those Ghetto babes, Destinys Child, when they sang
U nasty girl, you nasty you trashy, you classless girl, you sleazy you freaky
Yeah, I'm sure I read it right because I had to do a double take, myself. It was either in the SX or the SSO, I think on the back page maybe? Being a non-smoker myself, I usually find that it makes no difference whether they allow it or not, people still smoke in the non-smoking area and there's never any policing of it, so whatever I say...
PS After having just checked the Arq website, I'm right... it's just Vortex and $10 entry. Nil interest here! IF I was going to do a recovery, I reckon Homesexual would have been the best bet.
Without spoiling the surprise, weve scored a few hints about how our DJs are going to make this years Sleaze Ball Ghetto Fabulous and what they will be spinning on the night.
Hordern Pavilion Fabulous
Sista P - (10pm 12midnight)
Mr Timothy - (12midnight 2am)
Paul Goodyear - (2am 4am)
Rob Davis - (4am 6am)
Alex Taylor and Chip (Back-2-Back) - (6am 8am)
Pumping out uplifting vocal house, the DJs playing in The Hordern Pavillion will keep you hot with progressive high NRG and up-tempo, chunky main room house.
Sista P Ill be playing Fresh Uplifting Vocal House to get the party started!
Mr Timothy (AKA T-Funk) I am on early so I may need to warm everybody up, but I wont be fucking around for long before it all gets serious. I got a bunch of new mixes and tracks I have been working on so bring your notebooks, I will be fielding questions at the end of my set.
Paul Goodyear Percussive and Progressive with good driving NRG
Rob Davis - House - up-tempo, dirty, sexy, percussive, progressive
Alex Taylor and Chip (B2B) We are going to play a blend of driving Chunky main room house with rocking electrified beats to take the party home
Dome Club Ghetto
Sveta and Rob Gilbert (Back-2-Back) - (10pm 1am)
Mandy Rollins and Feisty (Back-2-Back) - (1am 4am)
Stephen Allkins [LOVE] Tattoo - (4am 6am)
Rado - (6am 8am)
Four words: Hot, dirty, sweaty and sexy. In true Dome style the DJs have said they will be dropping the beats dark and dirty all night long!
Sveta and Rob Gilbert (Back-2-Back) - Tribal / progressive / dirty house /dirty electro. Anything that is bottom heavy with good percussion. The darker the venue, the darker the music.
Mandy Rollins and Feisty (Back-2-Back) -
Mandy- The Dome will be fuelled by bass heavy, hypnotic, dark bouncy percussive hip grinding pulsating rhythms. The darker the room, the darker the beats. So think, dirty filthy fuck music and dance like you mean it!
Feisty- The good thing about teaming up with Mandy is that our set is always a surprise, even for us, because we don't really know what twists and turns we're going to take until we're there over the decks, and that's always fun. I imagine there will be lots of dark and dirty moments, a bit of "cheekiness" and of course that hip-grinding subterranean sound you expect from us.
Stephen Allkins [LOVE] Tattoo We know he is going to be great
Rado - I will play a mix of progressive tracks. Whether it will be progressive house, tribal or even progressive trance I will make sure the music will be uplifting and the energy level will keep rising.
David and Jake will be creating that disco feel in here so you can boogie on down till the break of dawn, perfect if you like your music fun, camp, glamorous and a little bit trashy.
David Hiscock Fun , anthemic, hands in the air music
Jake camp Kilby I want to try to recreate Studio 54 with a bit of 80`s trash thrown in. A little glitzy, a little tacky and 100% ghetto fabulous.
A few people have asked and I'm gonna do the same. What is the DJ itinerary for 'Ghetto Fabulous' - please? It's depressing to miss my favourites when I can't be everywhere all at once.
Really looking forward to the party, but I hope that not having the RHI won't mean being packed too tightly

Given that some of the same djs from the last Inquisition are playing at the same venue i.e the dome has something been done to address the acoustic problem which was present at the last Inquisition ?
Lighting was also an issue; lets make it dirty and sleazey as promoted !!!
Had nothing to do with the DJs. Sound at Mardi Gras was fabulous, almost best ever in the Dome (and yes Inquisition is awful). If Sleaze has the same set sound set up as Mardi Gras, then there is nothing to worry about.
I think you're very hot Countdownboy! I would still like to know more about you. Can we see a picture please? What about an article in SSO? How will I now you at Sleaze?
DCM's not the venue it was, but this is a special occasion. I liked DCM for Diva's. I think DCM will be where you find all the performers, a lot of the drag queens and hardcore party crowd.
Its all about Sleaze not what happens after sleaze
i find it a bit sad that people are talking about what they are going to do after Sleaze is over. How about some chat about want you want to do AT THE MAIN EVENT ?
What do you do , where do u dance what are your plans on the night etc etc ....
C'mon get excited, and keep the recovery party chat to the other party wall please. This is the SLEAZE WALL

Can Jake or David please consider playing a "Ma Baker" remix. I heard one on the radio the other day that was pretty faithfull to the original. Maybe speeded up a little bit and a stronger bass kick. Also some 303 acid action in parts. Really enjoyed it, singing along in the car. I sure it would go down well in The Forum.

Ok Ok Ok, Im excited already.
How sic!!!! Ive started packing my bags.
The stuff one has to bring!!
Let me see.
I'll be wearing.
Semi c thru nylon lycra camo hotpants/undies (with pouch)
& spares. Leather studded necklace & Ankh. Airforce fyers pants with hole stud leather belt and a tiny bit of eye shadow, tan spray and best of all rasberry flavoured lippy in case I get hungry. All that action can crack your lips up.
Box of large condoms because the standard ones strangle him. (In case I get lucky)
Dencorub lube (ouch-yehhh), yohimbe, viagra, B group vits, gingseng, quickeze, imodium, advil, sudafed, coq10 & U know wot.
All sorts of yummy uppers n downers, just like Luna Park.
Oh, and of course all the tiks and hundreds and hundreds of dollars to waste on more shit.
Boy if I dont get laid after all that effort then I dont know wot I'll do!!!!
Dome for me. Only gripe is Hordern is not like it was last year which had trancey stuff in the early part then into harder tribal around 3am.......... truly an awesome party.
I just have this feeling that as everyone will be wanting to dance to Sleazy music and the Dome will be over packed and like a Sauna. The Hordern last year was packed.
I still think NMG would be doing everyone a favour by setting up a designated "exploring area" just off site to avoid the no sex where alcohol is served rule. It wouldnt take a lot of effort , just a big tent or something in the car park on the other side of the fence with a passout system. Think outside the box people, its forward thinking like this that make a party truly different
Maybe I'm wrong but Sleaze to me seems to attract more
Inquisition type crowd than MG ? and last year in the
Hordern was great.
Packing them into Dome may be the wrong move. I think it will be overpacked especially with this warm weather we are having then it becomes uncomfortable/dangerous.
Sleaze Ball is gonna be awesome. Great friends, great music ( david hiscock especially )spunky boys with little on, dirty boys getting it on and then recoveries to keep us going. 2 weeks off after that, what more could you want Woo Hoo!
Email your story as well as your details to comps@ssonet.com.au. If the story is published on 28 Sept you could be the lucky recipient of a Sleaze Ball "Ghetto Fabulous" ticket.
Good Luck & Get to it!
See you on the dancefloor xx

I've dusted off the old lycra Kaftan although i may go for the floral moo moo. Drugs are bad M'kay, so i'll only be taking a few. As for all those vitamins and lubricants you'll be carrying you'll need to have a sherpa follow you around all night. make sure he's cute as I haven't had any alpaka meet for ages.Don't know about the Dencorub lube as i always prefer to use Ye Olde Tiger Balm for the nipples and testies but that hasn't been for days. Anyhoo i hope you have everything packed now as you'll probably start getting all flusted as the days get closer and forget to put on your pants, heaven forbid. In a while crocodile.
Cheers!
I just thought that i should mention that Sleaze Ball gates will have been open for 20 minutes in another 168 hours time. How fucking exciting is that ??

Yippeeee.... less than a week! How exciting. 5 more work days for me till the big night. I haven't been THIS excited about a big dance party for a while. I think I say it every time, but I have a great feeling about this Sleaze, it's gonna rock! Hhhmmm what am I wearing? No idea.... what am I taking? Lots of ideas there! Yay for Sleaze! :D
I know, I know.... I'm actually having a break of 3 months between Sleaze and Toy Box so this will be my only biggie for a while. So can I still be excited please?
Yes you can be excited Jgirl but as to the other........
PACE yourself.
Big hint - if you're siting down and feel you have come down. Get onto the dance floor and give it 15 mins or so as I find most times I get it all back and didnt need to
top up.
I just bought my tickets. The Ticketek operator said there were still plenty of tickets, but selling fast and they would probably sell out during the week.
Thanks T! I will pace myself! I can't wait! Have I said that already? So counting down... along with CDB of course! Please NMG, give us a great night we won't forget!

Strap on with nothing oh and me and my friends will be buying bling blings in paddys markets apparently they sell them there! oh the excitement! Cant wait!
Whats happening Sunday night for the gals in terms of recoveries? Me and the girls are up for a big one, but seems alot of the recoveries finish at midnight.... Hmmmmm..
Can you (or somebody else in the know) please advise if the upper level of City Live / The Forum (whatever you call it now days) is going to be part of the retro area and that access to the upper level will be open to all party goers.
I'm asking cause at Mardi Gras and at previous NMG events the upper level has been used as either a girls only space or as was the case at MG earlier this year for MG members only.
Im keen to know that the upper level isnt going to be used as an elitist area this party ... please.
Hey can i request songs here? anyway here it is : RIGHT ABOUT NOW by Mouse T Featuring Emma Lanford. I'll be the happiest guy if i hear that song )))))))) a few more days till Sleaze! Play safe everyone!
Members currently pay $45 a year for membership. That should buy them some special treats at NMG events! (it buys little else). See everyone on the top floor of city live on saturday night, i'm looking forward to blinging bling with everybling!
I've just scoured the Star looking for the usual party guide and it's not there! I'm sure I read somewhere there would be one.
We need to know things such as will there be a shuttle bus? What route will it take? Are we allowed mobile phones with cameras? (this one never seems to be the same) Will there be a camera check? Where will the entrance be, Driver Ave or on the other side near Bent St? Is there a member's queue? Is there a member's coat chek? Is there a member's lounge? Will there be security pat downs?
Some of these things may be trivial but reading the guide in the Star always gets me more excited.
I hope we get a member's email like we did last year. I'd love to know showtimes too.

As we head into our 2nd biggest Mardi Gras party weekend, may I wish everyone a safe and fun weekend.
Remember that your 'personal' actions do impact on the whole community and irresponsible acts of selfishness by 'dropping' on anything shows total contempt for the hard work of the people that strive all year to give you some of the best parties in the world, let alone the, normally volunteer, medical people that have to look after you.
Sorry, I know it sounds like a broken record but needs to be said.
I'll be all over Sleaze and then sooooo looking forward to Manny at the Shift on Sunday night. Tomorrow includes extra gear for the Shift and Audio tune and DJ soundchecks at Sleaze so think an early one is in order.
I dont know what to wear. i've left this far too late and i need help! PLEASE...
are legwarmers in or out?
how much bling is too much bling?
what's the best design for a t-shirt?
should i wear the shorts or the jeans?
are sneakers ok?
HELP HELP,
Ive never been before and i dont know what to wear??? Suggestions please, i cant find any pics or anything.. Do i just dress as a dominatrix?
Jeans, T-shirt and sneakers up to and including the most outrageous costumes all would be OK. If you make an effort people will appreciate it. If you just have jeans and sneakers no one will care. A smile and friendly attitude always looks great!!!
I would suggest, however, that you don't wear thongs or similar - too much chance of injuring yourself.
Me? Jeans, singlet, "bling" belt buckle and the attitude that I am going to have a great night with thousands of new friends!!!
Bag is packed, getting in to car soon for drive to Sydney!!!!
I really hope everyone who attends this sleaze is in a happy party space, and not in a insular head space (you know what i mean)
The parties were so much better a few years ago when the "treats" we took led to making lots and lots of new party friends! Now you see too many people have a little private party in their own heads!
Safe partying everyone, lets make this a big happy family saturday night!
I have never been able to do nana naps on the afternoon or early evening before a dance party - I'm just too wound up and can not relax enuff to get to sleep.
Has anybody got tips or ideas how to relax and stop focussing so excitedly on the night ahead ?
Nana Naps......... always manage to have one around
2pm'ish.
You need a quiet environment around you or even TV on low
but nothing too exciting and off you nod.
Its said a 20 min power nap is = to 2 hours of sleep at night as you get into REM sleep quicker during the day.
Thats why its called a power nap.
Thankyou for such an open and wonderful forum for all of us to post our thoughts on. Wishing you all the best for sleaze, be safe & party hard everyone. (no one can party like the gay community)
Currently listening to: zzzzzzzzzzz - zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I can't nap either. I try to sleep in late that morning, then make sure I have plenty of quiet me time during the day. I have finished my outfit so I only have to shine the bling and polish the boots.
OK, finally, we can officially come out of hibernation and enjoy some full on party time. Been so busy that I didn't even enjoy my pre Sleaze week anticipation!
I have to say that I agree. I remember at Mardi Gras last year being surrounded by people all 'in their own heads' and I'm sure that they were having fun; but what I most enjoy at parties is being surrounded by people whose fun is displayed on the outside . I love nothing better than a sea of smiling faces all around me, all having fun that is obvious for all to see and enjoy.
I have tried sooo many times over the years to take the Nanna nap pre-party but not once has it worked. I am always just way too excited. I love the anticipation of the event and it just winds me up too much to snooze. I do try and lie down quietly for an hour or so in the afternoon though, and also try and eat well through the day + drink a lot of water. I always attempt dinner but that never goes down too well either -again just too excited! I also try not to have any caffeine in the few days prior to a party and attempt to get a good night's sleep every night for the few nights prior to the event.
Good luck with the nap -it's going to be a quiet lie down for me!!!
Well Ive had my final workout, had a nice warm soothing bath, some red wine and Ill be in bed by 10pm tonite lights out.
If you get an early night the nite before that can help heaps.
Have fun yawll.
By the way, my friend from the gym has a mate at Ticketek he said theyve sold over 7,000 tickets so far and it look s like its going to be a sellout (8,500)
Thanks to everybody for your kind words of support regarding the countdown over the last God knows how many days. This countdown is now officially over. I look forward to seeing you all at the party - even though you wont know me Happy Sleaze everyone.
i am still slightly affected by the whole sleaze atmosphere but the party was fabulous! One big venue so you don't lose your friends, great lasers and cool music (especially rob davis !!! who played insomnia by faithless for his opener, a definite club classic).
Other than seeing the glam ones of you who were there
My best party moment was not just the best leather line up ever in the Dome
Was grinding up the front to Steven Allkins (live!) watching the DJ minder boy dance his arse off
On calling him over to say "you must be tired" I found it was Prez Marcus masquarading as a ghetto boy
- he'd been there most of the night, was happy and hot-looking (even I went grr) Hopefully he got heaps of trade
I love our leather attire Marcus best but this was a happy sweaty working president at a nearly sold-out pass all expecations party. Best Dome line-up from NMG ever (Marcus?)
Marcus and the NMG team deserve a public congratuations for a job well done bring Sleaze back to itself.
OK so what was Sleaze like this year ???? My girfriend and I are presently in Hong Kong and went to the China Pride Party - held in a shopping centre foyer...ever been off your face in Westfield ? Bizarre ! But had a fabulous night with the boys but was thinking of everyone in my beloved Sydney!
My only whinge was the smaller wooden dance floor in Hordern which meant the dance floor was sardinesville and not good for dancing and dont dance on concrete. Did that once before and couldnt walk properly for days.
Had an awesome dance 1-2:30am in Dome... I luv me tribal and thanks to the smiling lady dancing around me as most of my friends hit The Forum. Went to the Forum and heard Born to be Alive and ran screaming from the hall dont like words in my dance music
Got a sick tummy so I left around 4:30am but had a great
night.
Now , anything on for NYE night ? know it wont be Hordern but hoping someone may take over Dome and City Live or similar sized venue somewhere ?
Have a great long weekend.

Sleaze
Congrats to the Sleaze organisers on a very good party. The sound in the Horden was flawless. Rob Davis and Jake Kilby were both excellent. If only one of them could have been saved for the last 2 hours. Alex Taylor, I just don't appreciate the finer detail of what he's trying to achieve. The crowd was very friendly and pleasant.
Well done to all the working group, for Sleaze 2006, it was fan bloody tastic. Now cant wait for the festival to begin if this is the start of things to come. Thank you guys
We had a great Sleaze. Yay for happy party fun. Very friendly crowd, and lots of pretty stuff to look at. Well done NMG. Cracker of an effort.
As predicted, we spent most of the time in the Dome, which was really great. Mandy and Feisty rocked with nice grinding beats. Did a lap of City Live, followed by a quick exit, as "What a Feeling" was being played at the original tempo. Argh.
Alex's last set in the Hordern was spot on for us. The pretty lights in there (and the multitude of mirror balls, that didn't really look like anal beads, Will) gave me something nice to look at while resting feet in the bleachers.
Walked home via coffee. Spent today having our own recovery. An excellent time all round. Yay.
Firstly I would like to start by saying what a top notch party Sleaze was, although all DJ's were not great the crowd and atmosphere made up for it.
In the Horden the first 2 DJ's (Sista P & Mr Timothy) were very average, Sista P was a little like a washing machine and it was jumping all over different genres/styles it didn't really work for me.
One minute it would be funky house next it like break-type music and then switch back to house?? Which all happened in 1-2 songs?? (Sorry if these are not the correct styles, this is my interpretation, but it was definately mix-mashed messy)
And Mr Timothy sounded flat and didn't have that bassy thump you loved to hear at a Sleaze Party, he maybe be more suited to Mardi Gras?? The music was very mainstream lined and didn't have any special tricks..
So during most of these sets went to the Dome and it rocked, and it hard it ws thumping and everyone was wanting more!!! This was a great venue all night!!
I don't normally spend much time in the dome at Sleaze, but OMG what have I missed out on.. The vibe was great/atmoshphere were great and the energy levels didn't change throughout the night.
City Live as I'm not a retro fan I will not comment, other than to say I went in there once and it was very full and everyone look really happy and bopping along. I think the Retro room is definatley a Gay Fav,,,,,,
After that spent of the night in the Hordern which after 2am was what I expected Sleaze to be like, the bass kicked in big time lighting cranked up, and OMG insomia was wicked!!
All in all 9/10 for me and it was great to soo many ghetto fabolous people dressed up really sets a good atmoshere for the party! No real negatives as I guess you cannot like all the music played, but main thing is I left with a huge smile on my dial
Well Done Mardi Gras in building back up your reputation..........
Ps and Yes Marcus you are hot!!

thanks for the wrap up of the night, i didnt get to go. I was interested to see how mr. timothy would go, esp since he doesnt really have a connection to the gay scene. on paper, he seem to be the only weak point - IMHO - but from my friends accounts, it seems the crowd was fantastic and the dome rocked.
I spent most of my time in The Forum having an amazing time! David and Jake you were excellent as usual. And Jake you made my night when you played 'Obsession' by Animotion!!! The members bar wasnt very busy but that meant I could dance at the railing and overlook the shiny happy people below.
Bounced over to the Hordern to see Katie Underwood's three shows, I think that caught a lot of people unawares, as usual people left after the first show. Katie and her dancers were fabulous.
I missed out on Vandalism, does anyone have a report on their show?
The 6am Show was fabulous as well with Kitty Glitter emerging from the ghettoblaster's speaker!
The best Sleaze Ball in a long time!!! Cant wait for MardiGras!!
Yes it was a great party. The crowd in City Live was awesome as was the music...but...
Just one observation though. In City Live was the sound quality less than average. I thought it was pretty poor at times, there were ocassions when people I was dancing with couldnt recognise what song was playing due to the muddy sound and the distrortion that occured at various times. Did anybody else experience this ?
Another beef I have is the top level of City Live. I can understand the logic of have a special area set aside for for NMG members however the space was totally wasted becuase everytime I looked up it looked pretty empty. This proves that the area shouldnt be used in future as an exclusive members area as it just doesnt appeal to those people entitled to use it. If it was an area for everyone to use then there is no doubt that the queues during the night to get into City Live for the general public would not have existed. If NMG want to have an area exclusively for members then i suggest they have a tent or utilise something like the Fox n Lion next door to City Live.
Besides that issue I had a ball and congratulate NMG for bringing the bling back into Sleaze. Well done to all concerned.
Currently listening to: No Music today for me - None
I disagree... although the member's area wasn't packed that's why i liked it so much... you get served at the bar really quickly, there's no queues at the toilets and there's space to breathe and chill out before getting into it again... I really liked the space on the top of the forum... hopefully it will become a fixture!
Congrats all round. A smart theme, well-executed, excellent set-up and DJs in the Dome, and, meanwhile back in the Hordern, fun shows and a memorable set by Rob Davis (take a bow). There'll inevitably be minor gripes over this or that, but NMG can be rightly proud of what they pulled off.
This was the first time i had ever been to anything like this, and must i say what an experience. It was a bit overwhelming at first but after a few minutes i felt right at home. I cant wait for next year!!!
Thanks everyone for making it such a great experience!
Thankyou Brad, Aztech and all involved for bringing us another fantastic party this year. Also, thanks to suppliers Norwest, Bytecraft and Oracle. A party of this magnitude would not have been possible without the hard work and support from these companies.
Again, congratulations to all invloved and thaks to everyone else for being fantastically dirty.
Every year we look forward to our big dance party events at our favourite venue at Fox Studios.
But I was asking myself and a few mates over the weeekend is it really enough for us to have to only have the opportunity to party in the Hordern for NMG run events twice a year.
If NMG are always so strapped for cash to fund the Mardi festival in February then why not have NMG hold a THIRD dance party each year.
Mardi Gras could stay in its traditional 1st week of March , Sleaze 1st week of October but a void could be filled with NMG taking up the Hordern for a party in June or July. It wouldnt have to be the same size of MG or Sleaze .. maybe just the Hordern ?
We all LOVE our parties in the Hordern yet these days they are few and far between. I think a 3rd NMG run event a year would be a great success.
A couple of requests for my playlist from Saturday night, so for those who are interested here it is...

Well I'm probably I'm going against the grain here, but I have to say that overall that I did not find the music at Sleaze all that inspiring...a bit of 'same old' (Horden and Dome which I usually love)...could not get into Mr Timothy's set at all...or Alex Taylor's). I felt the music towards the end of the night, generally, wasn't as good as the middle period, the reverse usually being the case for me (and yes, the bikkies were great ...indulging or not indulging never change my perception of good or not so good music).
I did have a good time though. I think that NMG did a great job...well done!!, and the feeling that the crowd were up for it and the general atmosphere and vibe really made the night.
Pity about dome...
Dome was amazing until 4am. Mandy and Fiest completely ruled the night. Steven Allkins sadly wasn't appropriate to come on after the girls and totally killed the vibe in the room. Perhaps he would have been better in the retro room. Mardi Gras should look at hiring djs who are working regularly - for many the night was tarnished by such an innappropriate set.
pls does any1 know where can i find the pictures of sleaze ball 06? i've been looking all around he net and nothing (sniff sniff) pls if sum1 know let me know! thanks!
I just want to say how disappointed i was by the music - i was so looking forward to dancing in the Hordern & Dome (Not into Retro) and yet there was no consistent stream of soulful house or funky house, just decent house music with vocals is all i was after!
I usually enjoy the Dome in the late part of the night, but even there was soulless "tribal" which leaves me cold.
How about an RnB/Soulful house dj or space next time- as there are some of us who want to dance for real.
I had an absolute blast and I didnt even have sex!!!!.
I think for once I acccidently got my timing right. Surfing between the Hordern and the Dome, there was just no time for the Forum.
Great party! Sleaze is one of the best reasons to live in Sydney. Highlights for me were the early set by Sveta and Rob Gilbert in the Dome (such a great groove) and the end set in the Hordern by Chip and Alex Taylor (wow!). Some good chats towards the end with Christian and, especially, Amanda from Adelaide (Jemima!) in the Hordern bleachers made the night perfect. Thanks to all concerned.

pleaze lets be honest people.
the party at best was 4/10.
the production was cheap.
the sound was soft in both venues.
there was no energy.
the lighting was very average.
kittys show was the only thing close to the quality of old.MG
stop blowing smoke up each other.
We as a comunity have to deliver a lot better than that if we are goin to survive.
Everytime I looked up at the members area it looked like about 6 people hanging off the railings.....
Sure give members a room or tent to go to but not part of a small venue. You could do that in the RHI like they do for the ladies only space so maybe try that at MG ?
2 of the corners blocked off - 1 for ladies only, 1 for
members only?
What about those members who dont like Retro ? There were usually 20-30 people lined up to get in and there would have been no need for that as the upstairs area holds way more than that.
Wow, loved Sleaze! I lasted longer than I have in ages and I didn't have that much "poison" either! Gotta love that! I hate to be (just slightly) negative but I agree with most that the music in the Hordern wasn't all that inspiring for the most part... There wasn't much that really got me going off! I loved Chip but wish he was on earlier and Rob Davis was pretty good too. Thought Sveta and Rob Gilbert were totally wasted in the Dome, they were awesome - best DJs of the night for sure! Found Feisty a little too hard and Mandy was ok but she's been better I think. Still, I do think NMG did a fab job and I really hope that such a great party will get people excited for next year! I know I'll be there with bells on! Regarding NMG doing another party somewhere outside of Sleaze and MG, I think that's an awesome idea, I don't think they'd get enough people for a NYE party at this late stage though (especially with TB the next day)... I love any MG event and I'd be there to support it for sure! Yay for Sleaze!! Bring on Mardi Gras! :D

For me the highlight of the night was Paul Goodyear 2-4 in the Hordern. Paul, you were fantastic as usual. You rock. Loved Chip and Alex as well. The Dome was fabo when I was there; but didn't stay very long to really appreciate it.
There are always people who think the sound in one of the halls is crap when everyone else is perfectly happy with it. Why not just relax and enjoy the party?
Yeah, I agree with JGirl. Sveta and Rob Gilbert were definitely wasted in the Dome - and on way too early, so that I missed much of their set, but what I heard was quality stuff. (Is anyone else missing those amazing sets at party's end in the Hordern by Sveta?) Feisty and Mandy don't do it for me. I find their sound too 'thuddy' and not mixed-up/diverse enough. I was surprised to find that The Forum was an almost funk-free zone, despite supposedly being the 'Disco Ghetto'. Anyway, in the end, parties are what we make them, aren't they?
Luved the Graffiti artists spray painting outside the Hordern on the way to the Dome. What a novel idea.....
Dome didn't do it for me I am sorry - tried it a few times but couldn't get into like used to in years passed.
What was with the flickering lights in the Hordern early on in the night? Put me off my candy & cereal .....couldn't settle down in there till the lasers came on, then it was a blast till the end.
Congrats NMG on a much improved design & overall feel to the Sleaze Party....
Well you obviously were asleep in the corner behind the dumpster!!!
It was a fantastic party, the people that attended were a happeier bunch than previous MG parties, and the overall buzz was great.
It really bugs me that people take every chance they get to bring NMG down (and the season hasn't even started)
'And we as a community' have to support NMG in their efforts to produce a great show on a shoe-string budget. The problem is the 'community' dont support NMG staff and working groups the way a 'community' should.
So less bitching and more supporting, we are a 'community' after all !!!!!!!
You negative ninnies should not project your sooky sooky la las onto everyone else by accusing us of being liars.
Its stiff if you didnt get into Sleaze, perhaps bad poison was more to blame than anything else. The majority of us just so happened to luv it. I came up from Melbourne by myself and had an absolute ball.
Now im one of those queens these days who only goes out 3 or 4 times a year and only to big parties but I loved sleaze so much that I am busting to go upstairs to the shift this Saturday night to re-kindle some of those fantastic moments i experienced last Saturday night.
Traditionally the Saturday night after a big dance party is pretty popular due to people still having some leftovers from the main event. I look forward to kicking on this Saturday at the Shift ... Who is gonna join me ???
Yep, I'm absolutely with you when you say we should be supporting NMG! I got the scare of my life a few years back when I thought they'd be no more. I LOVE Mardi Gras - the group, the party, the parade, the festival, the LOT! I want them to be around forever, they're kinda like a safety blanket for me! And yes, I'll keep renewing my membership and supporting their events and giving my (constructive) feedback. Yay to Mardi Gras and yay to Sleaze.... oh and for what it's worth, yay to Homesexual too! They've been getting an ultra bad wrap on these walls lately....
I just want to thank NMG and all you party animals for helping me to make my night a blast. Its more than just the music. Its worth every bit of the $1000 (air hotel, etc) I spend for the weekend.
I have been reading pink pages for quite some years to see what the feed back is for how everyone liked or disliked the parties. Take it from me as a striaght man who attends the Mardi Gras and Sleaze parties, NMG does a fantastic job at putting on parties for your community.
Go to a striaght party and then you will see how lucky you really are.
I loved the large scenic. The car with the stellie through the windshield, the ghetto blaster on stage, the graffiti being painted through the night, the chalk board, the empty wine cask bladders all over Dome.
Had a great night too. Everyone was friendly and smiling. Lots of great looks and lots of people making some effort.

The party was ok. Sleave never makes it to the hights of Mardi Gras.... but really glad I went. Pity Love Tattoo killed the Dome - it was amazing until he came on. Here's to a great Mardi Gras 2007!
So another one is over..and I have ot say it was not bad - good actually.
The money they spent was not OTT and well considered.
The entertainment was good and properly augmented by lights and some reasonable decor and the inclusion of teh gratffitti was fun.
Saw a little doggy early on but i guess that is what we have to get used too - don't like it is just an invasion of privacy.
The sound was overall pretty good. A little muddy in the Horden and not really up to scatch in City Live.
The music direction was excellent for me personally i like a harder direction and it was good to hear this in the hordern AND the dome. I know some will disagree as the general feeling on the night was that the Horden was too hard and there was no "in between". As the dome was already pretty chunky and the retro space was - well you know.
I think it very brave that NMG did not listen to the masses of outspoken folk and went for something a little different in the Horden this year.
See you on the dancefloor.
PS there has been a heap of controvery about the G drops - how many ambulances were there actually?
Once apon a time you needed to be a member to access all areas of the party, and now someone is complaining that one area is being reserved for those people who are supporting the organisation that puts on our events each year.
I say good on New Mardi gras for actually providing a benefit for their members. Imagine the production values if everyone at that party was a member? imagine how far the organisation could go...
And although it is $40 a year for membership, you get that back by gaining a $20 discount off the lowest priced full ticket to both parties. Actually you can buy two members tickets to each party so technically you are saving $40 a year by becoming a member.
So stop complaining about Mardi Gras treating their members in a good way, and join up. (Then you wouldn't need to queue for anything!)
Proud to be a member looking and never having to stand in line!
Well the posts I read were not saying you can't have
a member area , just the one in the Forum looked way under utilised especially when there were q's to get into the venue.
I suggested maybe a tent with nice bean bags/coat check
etc or if in RHI just like the ladies only space. Those 2 big ends of the RHI could cater for that easily.
Thanks for sharing the link .
It's a shame that with Tito's pics that you cannot click on them individually to enlarge them and therefore see them a little more clearly.
I agree the members area should stay, and those who don't think so should be motivated to become a member, for all the reasons mentioned above! I would love to be up there dancing with my friends but theyre too lazy or too cheap to get organised to become a member - of course i give my boyfriend my other members ticket so it's be just the two of us up there- no fun.
Loving the 6am show posted on you tube! I came home from sleaze and looked it up immediately wanting to relive it, was one of the best shows since Deborah Cox's Absolutely Not!
I was in Dome most of the night and definately not straight.
The Forum couldn't have been more girlie.
Hordern I did see straights but in no way were they
the majority or anywhere near it.
That was great! What a different perspective I have watching a show at home as opposed to at the parties (where I never seem to have the presence of mind to focus on them funnily enough)!! Thanks for sharing.
Um, yeah, although there are a lot of straight people at those parties, I certainly don't agree that "they are straight"... they are definitely GAY/LES/BI etc parties first and foremost... just because you don't look gay necessarily doesn't mean that you're not!
Yes with the sound up, lights flashing, a skinful of beer or tic tacs, it was great
You should know that the performers were volunteers who responded to ads placed by NMG looking for people to put on, and appear in, Sleaze shows on the night. Well done all.
There is always comment that Sleaze is no longer sleazy. (Was it ever?) There is that sexual element that no longer occurs because of licensing laws. So is it time for the name to be changed to better reflect the current times? What should we change it to? Or would that be disrespectful of our past?
The Youtube video does not do the show justice as first of all the picture is terrible quality and it does not take in the full scope of the stage. The show was unreal!
But the bigger question is what the hell is someone doing taking video inside a gay dance party. I thought cameras were banned or has one of the photographers done this illegally. I notice the filmer has claimed copyright which I am sure NMG would contest!
Well I guess its open to everyone's own interpretation.
18-20 years ago when I started partying there were more
sexual things happening on and off the dance floor but usually in those days we only had 1 hall.
Then licensing laws set it - and you CANNOT blame any
party promoter for this. For me if I'm spending $100
a ticket then I dance my arse off and go pay $20 bucks
at a sauna but that is my interpretation.
But of course posters conveniently forget about the laws.
Some just want sex in your face all the time.
So at Sleaze The Forum had none of that happening, nor
really in the area I was hanging around in the Hordern but the Dome definately had testerone floating in the air and guys were cruisy.
So I suppose it depends on the hall / the time etc as
to whether you found it Sleazy or not.
Change the name - NO is my vote.
This Sleaze reminded me of those parties of years ago with the police car in the Hordern and decorations etc
and graffitti artists outside. Back then you had that sought of decorating going on all the time and was
great to see.
"There is that sexual element that no longer occurs because of licensing laws"
The licensing laws have for a very long time stated that "indecent conduct" is not allowed at licensed venues. The laws are not new and people were having sex at licensed premises under them for a long time. Maybe the problem is that in the last few years VENUES have decided that "indecent conduct" = sex. We need a debate about what exactly constitutes indecent conduct at a gay event/venue. Is our sex indecent?
"We need a debate about what exactly constitutes indecent conduct at a gay event/venue. Is our sex indecent?"
Come on guys dont ya think we have enough venues to have sex at = sauna's, sex on premises or at home in our bedrooms etc. Do we really need to perform sex at dance parties or gay venues? Those years have passed thank god. I am for a fun night out with friends enjoying the party or venue without having full on sex thrust in my face on the dance floor or in the toilets of these venues.
I went to Beyong Party in Melb the week before Sleaze and I can tell you it was not a pretty sight seeing what was going on all over the place there.....
So yes maybe it is time for a name change..... but to what?
And so has it come to that point where Sydney has turned into a squirmish city of conservatism compared to Melbourne of all places who seem to have some more open minded attitudes towards topics like this ? Maybe Melbourne deserves to hold Sleaze Ball instead of Sydney ? Hmmmm ?
Liquor licensing laws in NSW prevents sex occuring on licensed premises. Laws in Victoria are similar to many countries in Europe where sex is not restricted.
Fox studios have a liquor license that covers the whole complex including the outdoor areas and there is no way they are going to risk their income stream by allowing sex to illegally occur.
The issue is that NSW liquor laws are backward. Sex on premises should be covered by the Health Department not the Department of Gaming and Racing!
I agree re the conservative and fuddy duddy laws that exist in NSW have made living in Sydney a bit sterile over the last 10 years. Maybe I should consider Melbourne , seems they have a broader outlook on life. Sydney certainly doesnt deserve to have a party titled "Sleaze" ball anymore
I'm interested to read performers in the shows were volunteers. I wanted to volunteer to perform but could not find any requests in any Gay papers/Pinkboard/NMG web site.
I'm with you and if that makes us fuddy duddy's then so
be it.
I dont want to be dancing and seeing people having sex on the dance floor or waiting in line cause the cubicles are all full of people having sex or sitting in the bleachers having a rest to be disturbed by someone having sex.
You like the way Victoria handles it then why not move ?
or if you dont want to move, start a petition to get the
laws changed. I can just see peoples faces when asked to sign that or the look on the person face you have to present your petition to.
We have enough venues to go and have sex at. I suppose you want to sex to be able to happen anywhere cause its what you want ? and too bad what the fuddy's want ? You have your venues to go to when you want sex and we have our venues to go and dance in without having to watch sex . I think thats pretty even dont you ?
And no our sex is not indecent......it is just the manner in which we do it sometimes that is indecent.
Come on, I dont need to go to a dance party and see guys fisting each other on the side of the dance floor as happened in Beyond to weeks ago. Why they couldn't use the dark room is beyond me.
I am all for the NSW liquor laws banning such activity here in Sydney - who would want to go to our gay bars etc and have that thrust in ya face? Not me and a lot of my friends. And from a lot of younger guys I talk to its' not what they want either.
And if it is the NSW liquor laws they are complaining about banning them from partaking in these activities on licensed premises, then why don't they do it in full view on Oxford Street? - me think not!!!
What's happened to the old fashioned picking someone up and taking them home or to another venue for some fun.

People don't need to be having sex there for the party to still be called Sleaze! For goodness' sake, you people are talking about moving out of the best city in the world just because you're not supposed to have sex at our dance parties here? Gimme a break... if you want to have sex, go get off your face at a sauna and do it there. Why do you have to do it at a dance party?! Speaking of which, my girlfriend and I were having a bit of a sit on the chairs in Forum at Sleaze and we saw 2 couples giving each other head right next to us on the floor (at different times) so it certainly still happens. To be perfectly honest, I don't really give a toss (no pun intended) if it is happening right next to me (so long as there's no mess that I happen to sit in or accidentally touch or whatever) but for people to complain about NOT being able to do it is really a bit rich I think. My two cents....
Every few months I think the same few posters get on here to campaign/whinge about the lack of sex. Maybe others dont find them sexual anymore ?
Maybe we fuddy duddys shouls start a campaign to ban all sex on premise venues ?
but as a previous poster said, what happened to the old fashioned way of taking someone home ? Why on earth would you want to be doing it on the dance floor or in a dark corner anyway ? much more comfortable at home.
If thats prudish then so be it but remember everyone else has bought a ticket to a dance party and expect to
see people dancing ! oh shock oh horrow. If we by a ticket to a sauna or a SOP then we would expect to see people having sex but most of those have the decency to take it to a private room.
Besides being the law in NSW , the majority dont want to see it there in front of them.
"I dont want to be dancing and seeing people having sex on the dance floor "
EXACTLY!!!!!
just immagine dancing to rihanna, you are peaking (the high is caused by her talent of course) the chorus comes on - S.O.S. - you have hands in the air...and then you look around and see a guy with his pants down and another one on his knees...my rihana experience would be gone within seconds!!
the same applies to mary j blidge, britney, paris, young divas, kelly clarkson and many many more.
if you want to have sex go HOME!
"Sleaze & MG parties are str8"
Thats absolute rubbish.
Based on what statistical evidence???
Sure theres plenty of str8s, but they are in the minority.
As long as they respect our space I dont mind str8s being there. They are after all supporting us by going to these parties. Some of them are my friends anyway.
As far the sex at Sleaze argument goes, I dont mind it if people have sex in front of me as long as they keep out of my way whilst Im shakn it.
The only thing I really object to and think is wrong is when youre busting for a piss and the gropers are taking up rthe toilets. I suggest we just all piss in the sinks from now on if they are going to take up the loos.
Like many others, I go to the party to have fun with my friends, dance, enjoy the lights and lasers, in a safe, comfortable environment.
Sex has never been something of interest to me at the parties, nor is it something I want to see. I want to be at a dance party to dance, and have a good chat and laugh with friends over all the nonsensical things that invariably occur over one long, great night.
I think you will find the majority of postings so far
are against it.
I dont think we are prudes or fuddy duddy's etc. As a poster said it still happens. Anyone been to the toilets lately and thats fine by me if they want to do that but I dont want our parties at risk because a few want to have sex right out in the open anywhere they like.
Doesnt happen at straight parties either.
So I dont think that posting was being presumptuous when you look at how many are against.
Get over it. No amount of moaning on here is ever going to change the it. Its the law so you either campaign against the injustice of the law ( and that makes me so
laugh ) or as another poster contemplated, move to Melbourne.
Did anyone notice or are we all used to being physically body searched now when we go out partying? Was somewhat intimidated when I first saw everyone being subjected to a full body search HOWEVER when we finally reached the top of the cue and met those two female security personnel well it was a blessing and not a curse. Well done Mardi Gras for choosing such entertaining and friendly security people to search our bodies. It was more of a pleasure than an invasion. Not sure who the girls were but they were very cute 'for girls' and what a nice welcome to an excellent night!
i truly hope our TOP djs justin and david won't read your post.
obviously you were not at homesexual when tony moran played rihanna! everyone was singing along. she has got a big support. good news - whitney is back in studios. britney will be soon too.
and what is that traxorsauce? i could not find any rihanna there. i will NOT be spending my money there.

You people are funny. No one actually said they wanted sex at the party, someone merely pointed out that according to NSW law that it's not legal anyway and therefore the licensee can't condone it. Talk about getting all worked up over nothing!
Anyway back to the party... the scenic was great but the music was the dullest I've ever heard. The first few hours in the hordern was just plain weird and lacked any sought of energy whatsoever... Paul Goodyear saved the day though for me the music overall was unremarkable.
Just because you are a Sydney DJ doesn't mean you know how to play to a large crowd at a major dance party. The music at Sleaze and Mardi Gras needs to be world class otherwise there are plenty of other (albeit straight) parties in Sydney that are shitting all over us in terms of fantastic DJ's.
I didn't go to the DCM recovery but asked someone who was working there that night how it was and the word that was used was "tragic". They said there was no-one there and they shut it early....
Currently listening to: Brisbane Traffic - Cars, Buses, etc
"They said there was no-one there and they shut it early.."
And therein lies a story of how the G&L community can see thru a smokescreen regarding a venue that sold out on the G&L community all those years ago and was trying to patch things up. Sorry but we aren't as forgiving as that.
Without trying to sound negative, I'm not surprised DCM was empty.
I was not around in the "gay" DCM days, and to me it's a straight club.
I don't recall the publicity for this afterparty but everybody seemed to pay more attention to what the known gay venues and parties were doing, such as Arq, Shift, Homesexual, manacle etc.
Hmmmm interesting view, each to their own opinion but i must give mine after reading this ??? i loved the music in the first few hours of the night.. Sista P opened the ghetto fab party perfectly.. i heard familiar funky tracks that made me start grooving from the minute i walked into the main room.. the theme was ghetto fab and i expected some hip house sounds at the party , thank god the first couple of djs delivered it cause no one else did. Great tunes from Sista and Mr timothy, it all went down hill after that musically for me.... bring on the spin cycle if thats how it sounds
