I’ve just arrived home from the final dress rehearsal for Melodifestivalen, the Swedish final for the Eurovision Song Contest.
I’ve been following Eurovision for many years, and Melodifestivalen quite solidly for the last three years.
In fact last year, I even organised a screening of Melodifestivalen at a pub in Sydney.
I really like the way the Swedes [...]

This is a music video that’s been talked about for months, and it has to be said, it’s worth it. At first I wasn’t sure the Beyonce could do the GaGa brand of bonkers but while she does it differently, she’s as fabulously fierce as ever. Love it.

My country trip has had a change of plans and it looks like I'll be hanging locally instead this weekend. Nevermind, it's going to be sunny and warm, so man-watching on St Kilda beach is a cool alternative.

The wild man from Borneo has gone all fashion on us, not that we're complaining. After all, TV star Dave Salmoni is more man than we'll ever be. Ever. I think I just fell in love a little, even if he does cut all his pubes off. Now imagine how luxuriously thick his pubic bush could have been...

...

For those non-Melbournians, Flinders St station is the main station in Melbourne through which all suburban trains run. I live in West Brunswick just north of the city which is 5.5km from Flinders St. So we're not talking any long distance here. The main issue for this only-just-getting-into-cycling cyclist is the city traffic. I'm riding in peak hour, so the traffic is not moving quickly, but there is a lot of it. For those who know Melbourne I ride down ...

Mornington to Melbourne

There were several ocassions last night when I seriously thought I was going to die.

Nathan went down to the Mornington Peninsula yesterday to meet up with his grandmother to take her to Melbourne to attend another grandson's wedding over the weekend. Grandma is a fiesty one and still insists on driving (but needed Nathan by her side to give her road directions). She also hates it when her grandkids call her grandma so we all have to call her Marney instead.

Any how, Nathan and Marney picked me up from work and we first stopped into Crown for dinner. We got Marney a crayfish. She loves crayfish (even the overboiled, tasteless rubbery one she ended up ordering at Margo's inside the gaming area).

After dinner we proceeded up to Eltham (which is near shit creek, two miles east of Timbuktu, just past woop woop).

I must say that as impressed as I am about the idea of elderly people with cars, night driving is definitely not ...

Long Lunch

No, I did not go out for a long lunch. Long Lunch happens every year and I think for the last few years it has been set up outside the Victorian National Gallery. Quite a few diners had left by the time I took this snap. It must have been hot in the sun. A Chinese Dragon just happened to be passing by. Meanwhile on the lawns outside St Kilda Town Hall, a shorter Long Lunch was happening. This time the guests were the poor, the homeless, the down trodden and general assorted scum from the streets.

At least the St Kilda lunch for the poor did not disrupt traffic, unlike the Long Lunch which blocked off the St Kilda Road service lane and caused ...

An early blood test yesterday has revealed what we already knew anyway - we're not pregnant. They were our last two frozen embryos and at this stage we're calling it quits.

We've been at this on-and-off for 8 years since we first signed up at the clinic and we're tired of the whole process - emotionally, physically and financially.

We're going to sit with this decision for a couple of months and reflect, but right now, today, we're done.

We're both sad, but not devastated and we're not devastated because we already have the most amazing little girl who has completely changed our world. We are sad though because we would have liked for Miss C to have had a sibling and we would have liked to share our life and love with another little person, but it seems the universe has other ideas and it's not meant to be.

We have been spectacularly fortunate and we are grateful beyond words for what we have ...

Since his last romp at Hellfire this circus/burlesque hybrid has performed with La Clique in London’s West End, stripped for Port Adelaide Football Club, and has co-produced ” BRIEFS” an all male circus/cabaret show which [...]

The last week has caught up with me, and I had to come home mid-afternoon for a nap.

I went to see Alice in Wonderland at Imax. I liked it. I thought it was good. The 3d I found a little distracting at the beginning, but I got used to it. Mark said that Avatar was much clearer and crisper in 3d, must go see it.
I like the lead girl, she reminded me more of Gwyneth Paltrow than Courtney Love. That seems to have been the main criticism, that she looks like a heroin addict. I didn't see it.
Johnny Depp was good, not annoying at all, as I suspected. Helena Bonham Carter was great. Matt Lucas is a genius.
I want a Cheshire Cat.

Still in Collingwood

Nay, not Collingwood, Abbotsford. Why can't I find the comment that explained why? Collingwood Town Hall was in the City of Collingwood until the area became City of Yarra. Collingwood Town Hall and Collingwood Station are in Abbotsford.

I am just reminded of one of Dad's workers who always bought Abbotsford Lager to take away. He said that because few people drank it, it was always the coldest from the hotel fridge.

While I took a very good guess, albeit with a little research, at 17 Stanton Street, Abbotsford I was puzzled big time by this building. I had many thoughts but none were coming to the fore. An RSL club was on my mind.

Jayne found the definitive answer for the Police Boys Club and Frank added some extra information that 17 Stanton Street is now used for boxing. But also the site Jayne directed me to solved the puzzle of this building. I quite like the building. Could it be put to use? It was a Sea Scouts club house.
...

We and our lovely friends joined the crowd of over ten thousands at Saturday night’s Mardi Gras Party. Here are videos of the amazing shows at this year’s Mardi Gras Party..

George Michael was the first to make an appearance at 1am performing "Outside", surrounded by a sexy troupe of Police officers.

Followed by Kelly Rowland and Adam Lambert.. check out the videos after the jump!

Kelly Rowland then kicked off David Guetta’s set at 3am with a performance of "When Love Takes Over."

Glam rocker Adam Lambert in leather outfit closed the party at 8am with his single "For Your Entertainment."
