What really happened to WTC7?

On September 11, 2001 (9/11) BBC News mistakenly reported the collapse of the 47 storey Salomon Brothers building, also known as WTC Seven. It did so some 26 minutes before the building (above) actually imploded and crashed to the ground. An eyewitness said in a radio report at the time:

I was reading an article online that said teens are the main producer of underage kiddy porn. Which let's face it makes a huge amount of sense.

Think of the amount of teens on site such as xtube, youtube, rocketube etc that take explicit images of themselves and their friends / partners etc and then think ANY image of someone under the age of 18 is illegal and considered kiddy porn.

Last year Corey Delaney was charged with child porn offences for taking pictures of a drunken half naked twisetr game with friends of ages between 16 - 18.

Remember that picture of yourself that you took when you were 17 and sent to someone on the Internet to get a date? Well guess what you have trafficed in child porn AND the person you sent it to can be charged as a sex offender for posessing child porn.

Guided Tours

You may be extremely good with maps, have an excellent memory for detail, have worked out how to get around.........in fact you can arrange your own tour, except you will so busy with the detail, perhaps looking for free wireless connections for your laptop too for that extra information, you won't have a chance to take photos, let alone have a really good look around. But on a guided tour, someone else is looking after all that stuff.

We booked three tours in Singapore, a single day in Paris, another day in Amsterdam, the Hop On Hop Off bus in London, a cruise down the Thames and Seine and at the National Gallery in London, we hired head phone commentary machines. I could not say that any of them not great. In the case of the gallery, we may not have seen as much art, but we learnt a lot about what we did see.

I used to be dead against coach tours, but after visiting the Northern Territory and using tours, after Thailand and using some tours ...

Paris - Singapore - Sydney

The flight from Paris to Singapore was uneventful - we managed exit row seats for the whole way home - so I have been enjoying the leg room (and no crushed knees). I managed to watch a few movies and get a few hours of sleep. One of the movies was 'Paris' which is very appropriate and topical given that my last post (prior to this one) was in the same kind of mood as the film. Good timing I say. There is a pool here in Singapore airport - (thanks Jamie & welcome home yourself!) and we even have our gear for a swim but you can't do laps and we've decided to take it easy until we get home. I'm not sure I'll manage to sleep as much as I want on the next flight - but a welcome home swim then is sure to wake us up on our return. But at the uni pool??

We walked to Orchard Road but it was a bit too early for the shops which seem to open after ten. Who lives at the bottom of this long driveway, surrounded by a high fence and armed guards, I wondered? I asked a taxi driver later and he told me the President or Prime Minister, I forget which.

Orchard Road was nothing like I imagined and it was very noisy due to a lot of construction. I expect this never really stops. Smoking is bad for you Ronald.

My home pc is getting crankier and more passive aggressively belligerent by the day, so I'm sitting in an internet cafe in my neighbourhood. It's filled with the usual mix of Newtownians; a couple of gay boys, some hipster chicks, an old guy checking his emails, and a middle aged woman looking for accommodation online while her dog whines outside on the street. It's really cheap, up to 3 hours of web surfing for $4.40, and consequently pretty busy.

I've come in here a couple of times now over the past week, and each time I've been struck by the behaviour of some people. I mean this is no hushed shrine, no scholarly library or place of learning, but people are trying to do their own thing and concentrate on whatever they are looking at on the web. Yet, loud mobile phone calls, chatting with a friend at a computer across the room, or singing to oneself all seem to be perfectly natural behaviours.
