Pinkboard's Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 1998 Recovery
Sydney invented recoveries and Mardi Gras has the biggest and best.
A recovery is what you do after you have been to the party.
In fact some people enjoy the recoveries so much they don't bother
with the parties.
Recoveries are a place to catch up with the friends you didn't see at the
party, deconstruct the party, bitch about the party, chat and maybe chat up.
They are also a place to continue partying if you didn't party enough
during the night.
(You may need to book ahead for some recoveries.)
- The original recovery and the first one to go to is the lane
between the Flinders and the Beresford. It is the only gutter to be seen in.
The best look is directly from the party,
but many people freshen up first.
You can also keep dancing in the Flinders.
(I first met my bf in the gutter at a recovery here.)
- The Shift Downstairs is open from 6am till 2pm.
If you want to continue in the almost dark then this is the place for you.
